OUR FAMILY ASSESSMENT

Family Intelligence

The Botanic Garden and Botanical Museum Berlin is a botanical garden, a botanical museum and a herbarium in one. It opened to the public in 1897 and is protected as a garden monument (Gartendenkmal). The grounds have two entrances, Königin-Luise-Platz and Unter den Eichen, each served by its own bus lines.

During the 2026 garden season, a coffee truck stands on the sun terrace in front of the greenhouses from Wednesday to Sunday; the Café im Victoriahaus and Restaurant Landhaus are currently closed. From 18 November 2026 to 10 January 2027 the garden hosts Christmas Garden Berlin, a light-art event.

The one part a visit can’t include right now is the museum: its exhibition areas are closed for modernisation, with reopening expected in 2027.

Why kids will love it

The Great Tropical House keeps a visit going whatever the weather outside, and the garden’s 2026 programme adds guided tours and workshops for kids on nature journaling, herb gardening and medicinal plants, on scheduled dates.
