Villa Borghese gives children plenty to do. There are playgrounds in three places: on viale Madama Letizia by the Giardino del Lago entrance, on viale Goethe, and in the parco dei Daini on the via di Porta Pinciana side. The newer play area near viale Goethe and Porta Pinciana has spring rides, a large dragonfly, a small rope climbing wall, and slides and swings that include ones for children with disabilities.
Viale Goethe is the busiest spot for families: the carousels are there, the tourist mini-train leaves from there, and the Cinema dei Piccoli is a children’s cinema on the same avenue. The Casina di Raffaello runs a play centre for children, and a puppet theatre is listed among the park’s services.
The gates open in the early morning and close in the evening within time windows that shift with the season, so check the closing window for the month you visit. For food, there are refreshment points at the Casa del Cinema, piazzale delle Canestre, via P. Raimondi and the Casina del Lago. The trade-off is toilets: accessible toilets are only inside the museums. The avenues are paved, but there is no dedicated accessible route.
