The Bioparco is Rome’s zoo, founded in 1911, and it is open every day of the year except Christmas Day. Ticket prices go by height and age rather than age alone: the reduced ticket covers children taller than a metre up to the age of 10, and the smallest children get in free. A ticket is valid for the whole day.
The trade-off is the end of the day. Several animal houses shut before the park does, the Reptile House earliest, then the chimpanzees, then the rhinos, giraffes, bears and elephants, and the ticket office stops selling well before the gates close. Families who like to arrive late will find part of the zoo already closed. There is a cheaper Last Minute ticket for adults and children, but only at the ticket counter in the final two hours, when the most closing times are already in play.
Tram 19 stops at a stop named Bioparco, and on weekends and public holidays bus 910 stops right in front of the entrance.
