Singapore Zoo is the daytime park of the Mandai Wildlife Reserve. Night Safari, River Wonders and Bird Paradise are separate parks in the same reserve, and this page covers the zoo alone.
For children, the anchor is KidzWorld. Treetop Play is a place to climb and explore, and Splish Splash is a wet play zone laid out as an always-changing maze of water. Ranger Buddies Quest sends kids on missions around the zoo with a cast of animal characters, which gives the walk between enclosures a thread to follow.
The animal presentations are part of admission rather than an add-on, and so is the tram or shuttle where it runs. The catch is the weather: presentations may be shortened or cancelled in rain or other unsuitable conditions, so a wet day can take out the scheduled part of the visit. Food and drink are not allowed during the presentations themselves.
If a child needs a break outside the gates, guests may leave and re-enter on the same day by showing their ticket at the entry gate, though this is at the park’s discretion on the day. Water-refill stations are available across the Mandai parks, the zoo included.
