Simón Bolívar Park is an urban park in Bogotá, open to the public since 1968. A family day here is mostly outdoors and on the move: children’s play areas, a lake with a boat dock where you can go out by motor boat or rowing boat, and a network of cycle paths, trails and a jogging track. A terrace looks out over the landscape and across to an island kept for conservation.
Cafeterias and toilets sit together in the park’s service units, so a picnic is not the only option for lunch.
The trade-off is the event plaza. The park is also a stage for concerts and festivals, and ahead of Rock al Parque the central sector has kept special hours, so on a festival weekend part of the park may not run to its usual schedule.
