Ouwehands Dierenpark spreads its crowds with a reservation system: you pick an arrival slot in advance, and season-pass holders have to book one too. Tickets can still be bought at the gate, but online is where the lowest price is. Inside, RavotAapia is a large covered play jungle where children climb and scramble while picking up facts about the jungle’s animals, and it doubles as one of the park’s restaurants. In summer the Maki Lounge adds a huge bouncy cushion next to a terrace, though the dates it runs aren’t given. The park also has a children’s farm. The catch is food on quiet days: on weekdays outside the school holidays the Jungle Restaurant stays closed, leaving ‘t Koffiehuis, Pandasia and RavotAapia to cover lunch.
