Night Safari is a zoo in Singapore’s Mandai Wildlife Reserve, founded in 1994, and it opens only in the evening. As night falls, you explore the walking trails and ride the Safari Adventure Tram to meet more than 900 nocturnal animals. The tram has English audio commentary on the animals and zones. Presentations with animals and performers and interactive keeper talks break up the walking. You can also hand-feed an Indian rhinoceros; Mandai sells its animal feeding programmes as add-ons, chosen on the ticketing page when you book.
Every visitor books a time slot. The trade-off is the hour: the trails and the tram start an hour after the gates open, so most of the visit happens after dark and well into the evening. Flash photography and torches are banned so the animals are not disturbed. Across the Mandai reserve, visitors with prams or mobility aids are asked to use lifts rather than escalators. Dogs, including assistance dogs, are not allowed in the ticketed areas.
