La Mauricie National Park lets children and teens in free, and rents out sleds for the smallest and baby carrier backpacks, in limited quantities.

Price
Daily admission is CAD 10.00 per adult or CAD 19.50 per family/group at standard rates (lower in the spring and fall low seasons); the Parks Canada Discovery Pass is CAD 83.50 adult or CAD 167.50 family/group.
Season
Fully open late May to mid-October; only the Rivière à la Pêche (Saint-Jean-des-Piles entrance) and Saint-Gérard sectors are accessible year-round.
Low season
In the low seasons facilities are closed and overnight stays are not possible.
Saint-Mathieu entrance
The Saint-Mathieu entrance is open May 28 to October 12, 2026.
Closed area
The 'M' bridge and the section under it at the Shewenegan picnic area are closed until further notice for safety reasons.

Admission is free for anyone 17 and under, though camping, rentals and the cross-country skiing fee are still charged on top. With small children, the rental desk is worth knowing about: a sled for children five and under and a baby carrier backpack, which costs nothing to rent, both come in limited quantities, cannot be reserved and must be returned before 4 pm. Day visitors can use the open sectors from sunrise until late evening, but which sectors are open depends on the season. The one thing to plan around is parking: some lots fill up on busy days in certain areas of the park, the situation can change quickly over the course of a day, and the park advises arriving early with an alternative plan.

Why kids will love it

Children and teens enter free, and a free-to-rent baby carrier backpack and a children’s sled, when available, make it easier to bring the youngest along.
