Point Pelee has no public transit access, so a visit means driving in. Inside, the day can be as simple as a picnic and a swim at the beach, with a playground among the facilities and washrooms at every picnic and beach area, the Visitor Centre, the Tip Area and the Marsh Boardwalk. For part of the year the Tip is reached only by a shuttle that is included in admission; outside that period private vehicles can drive there. All-terrain wheelchairs can be borrowed free of charge from the Visitor Centre while they last. Middle Island is closed to the public for part of each year to protect the nesting sites of colonial waterbirds. This autumn, evening Monarch Migration Hikes run into mid-October and are included with park admission.
