BonBon-Land is an amusement park near Næstved in Denmark, open to the public since 1992. What stands out for families is how much of the day you can run on your own terms: you’re allowed to bring your own food and drink and eat it on the park’s green areas, or use the grill hut. If you’d rather buy lunch, there are burger and pizza places and a café, and you can order and pay by phone to skip the lunchtime queue.

Parents of babies are well looked after. The Baby Service by La Fiesta has space to change and breastfeed in peace and a microwave for warming baby food, and it’s open for as long as the park is. The staffed Service Center hands out a free nappy, has plasters if someone takes a tumble, and rents out pull wagons — they can’t be booked ahead, so collect one early. Luggage lockers mean you don’t have to carry bags between rides.

For children who find noise hard, noise-reducing headphones can be borrowed against a deposit, and the Vis Hensyn wristband lets a guest with a companion card enter most rides through the exit instead of queuing; wristband holders must always ride with a responsible companion aged at least 15.

The trade-off: several rides — Bæver Rafting, Hankatten, Rejen, Søløven, Vandrotten, Viktor Vandorm and Vildsvinet — have long or awkward evacuation routes, so riders must have full function and normal strength in both arms and legs.
