Legoland Billund vs Windsor vs Deutschland: Which European Legoland Suits Your Family?

Updated 20 Oct 2026 · 1 day

Billund, Windsor and Deutschland are all Legoland parks, but the details that shape a family day differ: which days they open, how the day ends, how height rules work and how easy they are with a pushchair or wheelchair. This comparison puts the three side by side, each linked to its own page with the full family facts.

This guide compares three Legoland parks in Europe: the original in Billund, Denmark (open since 1968), Legoland Windsor Resort in England (since 1996) and Legoland Deutschland (since 2002). They share the bricks, but the practical details that shape a family day differ. This comparison sticks to what each park’s own information says.

Legoland Billund: the original

The main thing to plan around is the calendar: the park is not open every day, and opening days and hours change from date to date. Day tickets are cheaper online. Without a car, trains run to Vejle, Kolding, Fredericia and Give, with buses to Billund that stop right outside Legoland. Several attractions can be enjoyed while staying seated in a wheelchair, including Miniland, DUPLO FUN, the LEGO DUPLO Peppa Pig Playground, The Great LEGO Reef and Atlantis by SEA LIFE. Guests with a physical disability can reach rides through the exit or Fastrack entrance with up to five companions, and a toilet with a changing bench is opened with a key fob from Information.

Legoland Windsor: best for matching rides to height

Every ride has its own height rule, and on most of them shorter children must also ride with a responsible person. For the smallest in the group there is a set of attractions with no height restriction, including Miniland, The Brick, Creature Creation, LEGO Studios 4D and the Model Making Studio. Splash Safari and Drench Towers open from May half term to early September; at Splash Safari every child under six needs a supervising adult. Ride queues close up to 30 minutes before the resort does, so riding time is shorter than the posted hours. Without a car, trains run from London Paddington via Slough to Windsor & Eton Central, or from London Waterloo to Windsor & Eton Riverside, with a separately run, chargeable shuttle bus to the resort.

Legoland Deutschland: built with pushchairs in mind

There are separate parking spaces for pushchairs inside the park, and families can bring their own hand cart. The first aid station is staffed continuously and sits next to the picnic area between the Observation Tower and the Dragon Hunt. On a grey day there are indoor attractions such as Temple X-pedition in Pharaoh’s Land and the LEGO Studios, and waiting times are often a lot shorter in poor weather. The catch comes at the end of the day: in the regular season rides close an hour before the park, so the last ride is earlier than the closing time suggests.

Which one should you pick?

  • Travelling with toddlers and a pushchair: Legoland Deutschland’s in-park pushchair parking makes the day easier.
  • Mixed heights in the family: Legoland Windsor lists its no-height-restriction attractions clearly, so you can plan around the youngest.
  • A wheelchair user in the group: Legoland Billund names the attractions that can be enjoyed seated and has a group entrance through the exit or Fastrack.

Whichever you choose, check the opening calendar for your exact date before you book – none of the three is open every day of the year on the same hours.
