Islands of Adventure is one of the theme parks at Universal Orlando Resort. Its rides include Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, Jurassic Park River Adventure, Popeye & Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges and Pteranodon Flyers.
The catch is the refurbishment calendar. Several of those named rides are scheduled to close for weeks or months over the coming year, so if your child has been looking forward to one ride in particular, check its closure dates in the box above against your travel dates before you plan the day around it.
The resort itself warns that its high-speed rides, energetic live shows and large walk-around characters can overstimulate the senses. On the other hand, every attraction has a queue re-entry process, so a child who suddenly needs a break can leave the line without the family having to start the wait over.
