Sensō-ji is a short walk from Asakusa Station, which is served by the Tobu Skytree Line, the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line, the Tsukuba Express and the Toei Asakusa Line, with local buses including the Taito City Megurin loop also stopping nearby. The trade-off is for drivers: the temple has no car park of its own, so you will need the Taito City Kaminarimon underground car park or another nearby car park, and the train is usually the simpler choice.
Services are held in the Main Hall at fixed times every day, so you may arrive to chanting inside. The precinct is flat, the temple is working to remove remaining steps, and there is a lift on the left side of the Main Hall for visitors who find stairs difficult.
If you are travelling with a baby, the multipurpose toilets to the right of Hozomon Gate and behind the Main Hall each have a changing sheet and a baby chair. The temple also offers family blessings for a donation: the Shichi-Go-San blessing for children and the Hatsumairi blessing for a baby’s first temple visit.
