The palace isn’t open every day. It opens on set calendar days through the year and may close for a royal event, so settle the date first, then pick a starting time, since each ticket is for a chosen date and time.
Children get their own audio guide, free and in Dutch or English, and the palace runs special family activities for children and families that change with the current programme.
Only small handbags are allowed inside; larger bags, big backpacks and back-worn child carriers go to the free cloakroom. There is no café in the palace, so plan snacks around the cafés and restaurants in the immediate neighbourhood.
