Pacific Rim National Park Reserve is split into units, and they work very differently. The Long Beach Unit is the one you can visit any time of year, with beaches, trails and a string of parking lots; Green Point Campground sits here too, and its unserviced sites have washroom buildings with toilets and showers. The West Coast Trail and the Broken Group Islands are seasonal and open to overnight visitors only.
If you only want a few hours on the sand, there is a cheaper Beach Walk pass, but it is valid only at the Long Beach, Kwisitis, Incinerator and Wickaninnish parking lots and for a maximum of four hours. Dogs can come on a leash where they are permitted, but not in the West Coast Trail or Broken Group Islands units, and some stretches between Sandhill Creek and Willowbrae Trail are closed to them.
One thing to plan for: the automated pass machines at most Long Beach Unit lots take credit cards only, and some international cards are not accepted.
