Milan’s Museo della Scienza e della Tecnologia opened in 1953 and is protected as Italian national heritage. It is spread across several buildings, including the Monumental Building, the Air and Water Transport Building and the Olona Building. For the youngest, PLAYLAB is a learning space where children aged three to six explore science and technology through creative play, and at weekends, on holidays and during school vacations the interactive laboratories run an ever-changing programme of activities. The Enrico Toti submarine is the one to plan around: it can only be seen on a guided tour that costs extra on top of admission and is given in Italian only. You can bring your own lunch to the picnic tables in the outdoor gallery of the second cloisters, and there is a public snack and picnic area on Level M0 of the Monumental Building.
