Hever Castle was founded in 1271 by William de Hever and is today a historic house museum; the building and its park and garden are both Grade I listed. Until 2 January 2027 the castle is showing Capturing a Queen: The Image of Anne Boleyn.
Children have their own audio guide, in English only, and the grounds hold the Tudor Towers and Acorn Dell play areas, with a crenellated kiosk made from a former shipping container beside them. Ice cream kiosks around the grounds are normally open at weekends and during school holidays, and there are water fountains for refilling bottles.
Pushchairs can’t be taken into the Castle and have to be left in the Courtyard, so the indoor rooms are seen without them while the grounds stay open to wheels.
