A lift serves every floor of the Courtauld Gallery. From the Entrance Hall there are five steps to the main lift, and a small platform lift in the Ticket Hall is there for anyone who can’t use the steps. The practical things are close together: toilets, including accessible and gender-neutral ones, and baby changing are on the lower-ground floor, and the café is on the ground floor, opposite the main entrance. There are a small number of key-operated lockers, but they won’t take rucksacks, suitcases or larger luggage, so pack light.
Tickets can be booked online, and a small number of permanent-collection tickets are kept back each day for people who walk up. The trade-off is the time slot on your ticket. If travel delays make you miss it, whether you still get in is up to the Visitor Experience team and depends on how busy the gallery is.
The Ticket Desk lends out four sets of adjustable ear defenders for the length of your visit. You are welcome to take photos and videos in the gallery for your own non-commercial use. Arriving by taxi, you can enter via Surrey Street and turn left to get as close as possible to The Courtauld.
