OUR FAMILY ASSESSMENT

Family Intelligence

Most of a daytime visit here is unstructured: you come in at Brookside Gate or Station Road Gate and the rest of the afternoon is yours. For ordinary day admission there is no need to book ahead, and cash or card is taken on arrival; a day ticket bought through an account can also be moved to another date if plans change. The exception is Cambridge Botanic Lights. On those evenings a daytime visit ends early – you leave when the Garden closes in the afternoon and come back on a separate timed ticket for the lights – and once you have entered at your allocated slot, re-entry is not allowed.

Why kids will love it

For children the Garden is ground to cover rather than a route to walk, and there are craft sessions programmed for them rather than for adults with children in tow. Children stay with an adult the whole time, which is the Garden’s own rule and the shape the visit takes.
