The Ecoparque opened to the public in 1888 and is a national historic monument of Argentina. Today it is run as an eco-park, and the restored grounds are laid out for self-guided visits with full access for people with reduced mobility.
The children’s side goes beyond the animals: a carousel and playground, a water plaza, animatronics, a 4D cinema, an exploratory exhibit on the Río de la Plata and a lookout over Lago Darwin. Behind-the-scenes Visitas Exclusivas show the park’s work to save endangered species; they are priced separately, at a cost not stated in advance.
Entry has to be arranged online before you go. City residents get in free, while tourists now pay an entrance fee.
The trade-off is the weather: the park closes when it rains, so a wet day can cancel the visit outright. It is also closed on Mondays.
