Parque de la Ciudad is a city park in the south of Buenos Aires, founded in 1982. Most of the children’s programme happens at weekends: an art workshop where the park supplies the materials, and a sports and recreation workshop with board games, balls, skateboards and scooters. There is also a butterfly house and a newer playground that borrows its colours and imagery from the old Interama attractions.
You can get here without a car: several city bus lines serve the park, and the Premetro has its own Parque de la Ciudad station connected to the subway network. Food trucks and stalls are tied mainly to special events and the weekend craft fair rather than to everyday visits.
The one thing to plan around is rain: the park closes in heavy rain without prior notice.
