Efteling works with height, while Europa-Park sets height and age limits together and adds maximum heights on some attractions. This guide lists the official rules ride by ride, including when a child must ride with an adult and how each park's parent swap works.

Last checked: November 2026, against the official Efteling and Europa-Park attraction pages. Parks can change limits, so check the board at each ride and the park’s own page before you go.

Efteling in the Netherlands and Europa-Park in Germany set their limits differently. Efteling works with height: a minimum on a few rides, and a height under which a child rides with an adult on many others. Europa-Park uses height and age together, so a child must meet both, and it also sets a maximum height on some attractions.

Quick answer

 • Efteling’s tallest minimum: 132 cm, for Baron 1898.
 • Efteling’s lowest minimum: 90 cm, for Max & Moritz.
 • Europa-Park’s tallest minimum: 140 cm and age 11, for Silver Star.
 • Europa-Park has two tests: blue fire needs 130 cm and age 7, for example. Check both before promising a ride.
 • Both parks have a parent-swap option: Baby Switch at Efteling and Baby-switch at Europa-Park.

Europa-Park attractions with a maximum height

Play areas and small rides can have an upper limit, too, so an older child may be too tall:

 • Adventure Playground: up to 120 cm.
 • Ball Pool: from age 2, up to 120 cm.
 • Lada Autodrom: up to 135 cm; under age 4 with an adult.
 • Root Slides: up to 140 cm.

Europa-Park’s visitor tips say safety information, including age and height limits and whether a child must be accompanied, is posted on the board at each attraction.

Parent swap at both parks

Efteling Baby Switch

According to Efteling’s Baby Switch page, one parent queues while the other waits with the baby at the exit. After riding, the first parent asks staff at the exit for a Baby Switch ticket and takes over the baby. The waiting parent then uses the ticket to enter through the exit. Only one person can use it.

The park lists these attractions: Anton Pieckplein carousels, Droomvlucht, Stoomcarrousel, Villa Volta and Volk van Laaf (Monorail) in Marerijk; Carnaval Festival, Vogel Rok and Pagode in Reizenrijk; Baron 1898, De Oude Tufferbaan, De Vliegende Hollander, Halve Maen, Joris en de Draak and Python in Ruigrijk; Danse Macabre, Fata Morgana, Max & Moritz and Piraña in Anderrijk; and Symbolica in Fantasierijk. At Danse Macabre, the waiting parent goes to the staff member at the entrance instead.

Europa-Park Baby-switch

Europa-Park’s visit tips say to speak together to a member of staff at an attraction with height restrictions about the Baby-switch option. The park says this is only available at the bigger rollercoasters.

Pushchairs and tickets

 • Europa-Park pushchairs: the same tips page lists hire at €5.00 plus a €50 deposit, and says the pushchairs are only suitable for children who can sit up.
 • Efteling tickets: our Efteling page records that children up to and including three enter free on showing ID, and that you need both a ticket and a reservation.

Planning around the limits

 • Check age and height at Europa-Park. Both are part of the rule, and the ride page and the board at the attraction give the exact requirement.
 • Count your adults. Many rides at both parks need an adult with a smaller child.
 • Plan your swap in advance. Baby Switch applies only to the attractions Efteling lists, and at Europa-Park only to the bigger rollercoasters.
