The National Gallery of Slovenia prices a visit with families in mind: there is a family ticket for the permanent collection, for temporary exhibitions and for both combined, children and pupils qualify for the reduced fee with ID, and pre-school children enter free. The permanent collection is also free to everyone one Sunday each month.
The gallery runs its own programme for children, all of it booked in advance: Saturday guided tours with a workshop for families, Gallery Hours for the Youngest, a Family Guided Tour for parents and children together, and Teens to Museums for young people over 12. The trade-off is language. The Saturday family workshops and the sessions for the youngest are held in Slovene, while Teens to Museums is the one listed as available in English.
Plan for the cloakroom on arrival: coats, rucksacks and any bag larger than A4 have to go in the self-service cloakroom before you enter the rooms, so a changing bag may need repacking into something smaller.
