Predjama Castle has perched in the middle of a 123-metre cliff for more than 800 years, set into the rock as a cave castle. Its architecture is classed as Renaissance, and it is listed in Slovenia as a monument of national significance. Beneath it lies the Cave under Predjama Castle, the second longest cave in Slovenia and a separate visit from the castle. The one catch for families: that cave can only be visited in summer, so outside the season the day is the castle alone. The castle can be visited on its own or as part of combined tickets with Postojna Cave and other sights in the same park.
