Plan snack breaks around the building. Food and drink are not permitted in the galleries, to protect the items on display, so eat and drink outside before you go in. The Horsebox Café on the lawn serves hot and cold drinks and homemade cakes. That is the one real compromise for families with small children who graze through the day.
The main entrance is from the Museum of Natural History, where a platform lift serves wheelchair and pushchair users. Baby changing is in its own room on the ground floor, next to the toilets.
The museum also holds relaxed morning sessions on selected dates, when families with autistic members can explore the collections in a quiet environment.
If you come by bus, the nearest stops are on South Parks Road, on Banbury Road near the Keble Road junction, and on Magdalen Street.
