Gediminas’ Tower stands on Gediminas Hill and is one of the exhibition sites of the National Museum of Lithuania, with exhibition halls inside the tower itself.
There are two ways up. A footpath climbs from the Vilnia River side along Trispalvė alley, but it is not suitable for prams, bicycles or wheelchairs; the funicular is the alternative, with its own small fare. That is the trade-off for families with a pram: the walk is out, so the day runs on the funicular. The Panoramic Plaza on the hill can also be reached by a free lift at the foot of the hill, in the courtyard of the Old Arsenal, though the lift serves the plaza only, not the tower’s exhibition.
On the last Sunday of each month the exposition is free for all visitors, temporary exhibitions excepted. Full-time school pupils get half-price admission on showing suitable ID.
