OUR FAMILY ASSESSMENT

Family Intelligence

Chessington World of Adventures is an animal theme park, founded in 1931, where rides and animals share one site. The park is split into themed areas, among them Forbidden Kingdom, Wild Woods, Adventure Point, Shipwreck Coast and Land of the Dragons, and the practical facilities are spread across those areas rather than gathered at the gate: toilets with disabled access sit in several zones, and First Aid is in Forbidden Kingdom, next to the entrance to ZUFARI: Ride into Africa.

The thing to plan around is the calendar. The resort describes itself as open all year, with a main season from March to October, but it opens on selected dates only, and the hours change from one date to the next. Pick the day first, then build the trip around it.

Why kids will love it

Guest Help & Information handles parent swap passes, height checks and lost-children wristbands, so one adult can ride while the other stays with a child who is too small or not keen. For a child who can’t manage a standard ride queue because of a disability or medical condition, the Ride Access Pass gives a queuing adjustment for the child and up to three others, at least one of them aged 14 or over. It has to be pre-booked in the Merlin app before each visit, and the system is changing from the end of 2026.
