Tokyo Skytree is a broadcasting and observation tower that opened to the public in 2012, built for Tobu Railway to a design by Nikken Sekkei. The main viewing level, the Tembo Deck on Floor 350, gives panoramic views across Tokyo; the Tembo Galleria higher up is sold as an add-on for Tembo Deck ticket holders. With a baby or toddler the practical side is covered: nursing rooms for changing and feeding, and a first aid room for first aid and brief rest if someone needs to lie down. The catch is the upper level: because of capacity limits, Tembo Galleria tickets may be taken off sale, so the higher section is not guaranteed on the day.

Why kids will love it

The youngest children go up free, and nursing rooms at both the ground-floor group lobby and the main entrance make a visit with a baby workable.

Tips & tricks

Buy a timed-entry ticket online in advance to skip the walk-up line, which can run over an hour on weekends and holidays. Check the webcam or forecast before you go — fog or heavy cloud can hide the view entirely, so a clear morning is worth prioritising over a hazy afternoon. Free entry for children aged 5 and under.
