WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo is built over several levels joined by ramps. It has a koala rooftop, and Crocodile Billabong comes just before the exit. Keepers give talks every day, and the WILD Encounters add a meeting with a cassowary and a tug-o-war with Tasmanian devils. Part of the attraction has low lighting, and the ramps between levels call for care. Visitors who may need extra time or support can pick up a hidden-disability lanyard on arrival.
The zoo has no car park of its own. Ferries run from Circular Quay to Darling Harbour Aquarium Wharf, a minute’s walk away. The L1 light rail stops at Pyrmont Bay and Convention Centre, and Wynyard and Town Hall train stations are both within walking distance.
The catch is timing. Weekends, school holidays and public holidays are the busiest days, and walk-up tickets are subject to capacity limits then. Weekdays outside the school holidays, or any day after 2pm, are less crowded and less loud.
