OUR FAMILY ASSESSMENT

Family Intelligence

Tayrona combines Caribbean beaches with walking trails, snorkelling and diving, and the park also holds the archaeological ruins of an ancient city of the Tayrona people. Not every beach is safe for children: check which spots are safe and swim only in the permitted areas. Sea bathing ends in the early evening.

The park caps the number of visitors each day and asks you to book in advance, so don’t treat it as a spur-of-the-moment trip. Pack with the rules in mind: plastic bags and polystyrene are restricted, and alcohol is not allowed.

The trade-off of arriving by car is that, once the parking areas are full, vehicles are turned away and only visitors on foot can still get in. Arrive early, or plan another way in.
