Taman Mini Indonesia Indah opened in 1975 as a park presenting the country in one place, and the Regional Pavilions remain its core: they are free to walk into once you are through the gate. The grounds are big enough that the park runs a free circulating shuttle and a free bike tour, which matters with children who tire before the map runs out.
The entrance ticket covers more than the gate. The Tirta Cerita storytelling fountain show on Promenade Plaza is free with it, and at weekends and on national holidays there is also a drone show. The Indonesian Children’s Palace is currently closed, though you can still photograph the outside and picnic on the green areas around it.
The trade-off is that many of the headline attractions are ticketed separately on top of entry: the cable car, the Bird Park, the Komodo Museum, the Indonesia Science Center, Skyworld and the Keong Emas Theater each have their own price, so a day built around several of them adds up quickly.
