Steel Pier is an amusement park on a pier, with a spread of kiddie rides alongside bigger thrill rides. There is no gate price; you buy ride tickets, singly or in books, and spend them as you go. Unused tickets never expire, so a book bought for one evening carries over to the next visit. The trade-off is that the pier’s headline attractions sit outside that system: The Wheel, the SlingShot and the helicopter rides are priced separately and do not take tickets or wristbands, so a day that includes them costs more than the ticket book suggests. Many of the smaller rides let a young child go on with an adult below the height needed to ride alone, and a few, like Beach Buggies and Pirate Voyage, are for children only. For 2026 the pier opens in the afternoon on weekdays and at midday at weekends, running past midnight, though hours are subject to change without notice. Food is classic boardwalk fare, from pizza and BBQ to funnel cake and ice cream.
