Corvey was founded in 801 as an abbey and is today a World Heritage Site. The oldest part is the Carolingian Westwerk; next to it stand the former baroque abbey church, the cemetery with the grave of Hoffmann von Fallersleben, and the former convent buildings, which now hold a museum and library. The Remtergarten and an archaeology park sit alongside and can be added on a combined ticket. The grounds are spread out rather than under one roof, and the paths between the buildings are surfaced with fine gravel; the site itself advises that wheelchair users will want help with pushing. A restaurant is part of the complex.
