The Nikola Tesla Museum was founded in 1952, in a building by the architect Dragiša Brašovan that is protected as a Monument of Culture. Visits are guided tours rather than a free wander: they start at the top of every hour, and each one includes an exclusive film on Tesla’s life by Dr. Branimir Jovanović. That is the trade-off with this museum: the tour sets the pace, so arriving just after the hour means waiting for the next one. Individual visitors do not need to book, though groups must reserve at least a day in advance. Space is tight. There are no lockers, and backpacks and other larger items have to be left in the area the host points out. Food and drink are not allowed in the exhibition space, and photography, without flash or tripod, is only permitted in certain parts of it.
