Plan the day around the animals rather than the clock. Entry closes some way before the zoo does, and the residents start moving indoors for the night before that, so the last stretch of the afternoon is quieter in the habitats than the opening hours suggest. If you need a break in the middle, you can leave and come back the same day on a valid hand stamp, though that does not apply to ticketed evening events.
The grounds are a mix of terrain. An accessibility map marks which parts are level, which are gently sloped and which are hilly, and it marks the shuttle stops too. Strollers, manual wheelchairs and electric scooters are all rented on site; the wheelchairs and scooters need a cash deposit on top of the hire.
You are welcome to bring your own food and non-alcoholic drinks, as long as glass containers, disposable straws and alcohol stay at home.
