OUR FAMILY ASSESSMENT

Family Intelligence

Laguna del Laja National Park was founded in 1958. For families, the draw is two trails rated easy: Los Pangues crosses bridges and a boardwalk to a viewpoint, and Las Chilcas-Torbellino passes a bridge and two waterfall viewpoints. Part of the Las Chilcas-Torbellino trail, the Los Tatas section, has a concrete surface with a double metal handrail and two viewpoints, built for visitors with reduced mobility. The trails are open all year, though in winter they are covered in snow and hard to walk; winter is also high season, when the ski slopes are reached with snow chains. The trade-off is getting there without a car: rural buses stop at Abanico, short of the park entrance, and there is no public transport for the last stretch.

Why kids will love it

Two easy trails with bridges, boardwalks and waterfall viewpoints give children a short walk with something to look at along the way.
