OUR FAMILY ASSESSMENT

Family Intelligence

Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein sits right in the centre of Vaduz, with a car park, a multi-storey and a bus bay for quick drop-offs directly beside the building. Free lockers take backpacks, umbrellas and bulkier bags, so you can walk the galleries with empty hands.

For children, the anchor is kollabor, a play space in the Seitenlichtsaal that stays open whenever the museum does and costs nothing extra, provided an adult comes along. On a handful of set Sundays the museum also runs a drop-in family workshop for children from five with an adult, and during the spring, summer and autumn school holidays there are workshops for older children that have to be booked in advance – neither runs every week, so check the dates before building a day around them.

The one thing to plan around is food. Nothing to eat or drink is allowed in the exhibition halls, and your own snacks are only allowed at the green picnic table in the Seitenlichtsaal; otherwise it is the museum café.

Why kids will love it

Because children get a room of their own here: kollabor lets them play and make things between the galleries, free and open all day with an adult nearby. Children and teenagers get in without paying – the museum’s own pages differ slightly on the exact age cut-off – and on Wednesdays everyone does, which makes a short first visit with small children low-stakes.
