Kentucky Kingdom is an amusement park in Louisville. With young children, the place to start is King Louie’s Playland, an area built around the park’s smallest visitors. A few family rides sit beyond it: on Flutterfly you ride butterflies up to new heights, and Scout’s Squirrel Race in Discovery Meadow spins and bounces to a bluegrass tune.
The season does not end with summer. In autumn the park becomes Pumpkins at Kentucky Kingdom, and later in the year Christmas at Kentucky Kingdom spreads throughout the park.
The day is worth planning before you leave home. The lowest ticket prices apply only on select days, and only when you buy online a day in advance; decide that morning and you pay the gate price. Parking is also free on select days through the season, so one look at the calendar can settle both.
