Hwaseong Fortress is a World Heritage-listed fortress in Suwon, and walking it costs nothing. Inside stands Hwaseong Haenggung, the temporary palace, which charges a small entry fee but lets in anyone wearing hanbok for free. Around the fortress, the extras are hands-on: traditional Korean archery at Yeonmudae, a tourist trolley, and Flying Suwon, a helium balloon that keeps flying into the evening after the walls have closed for viewing. The one thing to plan around is the weather and the day of the week: the trolley does not run on Mondays or on rainy or snowy days, and archery stops in the rain too, so on those days the fortress is a walking visit.
