Habsburg Castle sits on a hill above the village of Habsburg, a short trip from Brugg. It was founded in 1020 and is listed as a Swiss cultural property of national significance. The museum costs nothing to enter, so a visit can be as short or as long as the children’s interest lasts.
From Brugg station a bus runs to the village square, and the last stretch up to the castle is on foot. Drivers park below the castle and walk up; visitors with reduced mobility can drive into the courtyard using the intercom at the gate.
The castle restaurant serves a daily lunch menu and weekly dishes, and it sets the rhythm of the place. The trade-off is winter: from November to March the castle is open only during the restaurant’s hours, and the accessible WC at the restaurant is likewise available only while the restaurant is open.
