Floreana is a volcanic island in the Galápagos. The archipelago’s entry tax covers it, and you pay that tax to park rangers when you land at Baltra or San Cristóbal airport, not on Floreana itself. From there the island is reached by small passenger launch from Santa Cruz, bought from agencies near the pier. That boat is the trade-off: the published timetable is undated, but it restricts the Floreana routes to Tuesdays and Thursdays, with a crossing of roughly two to three hours depending on the sea, so the boat days fix the shape of your trip. On the island, park rangers have laid out the Las Cuevas visit site in the north-east, named for its many small caves, with a signposted trail down to a beach with calm water.
