Most of a family day at Cragside happens outdoors. The labyrinth is a giant maze cut into a forest of rhododendron, the adventure play area sits next to Crozier car park, and there is a picnic area on the lawn between the visitor centre and Tumbleton Lake, with the tea room at the visitor centre if you’d rather buy lunch. The one thing to plan around is the House: its narrow corridors mean buggies and pushchairs are not allowed inside, so front carriers are asked for there, a baby carrier can be provided, and there is a buggy park next to the House toilets. Two bus services stop at the main entrance, including the Arriva X14 between Newcastle, Morpeth and Thropton, and arriving by bus can earn a discount on entry if you show your ticket on arrival.
