The Castle of Guimarães shares its ticketing with the Paço dos Duques de Bragança; while the Paço is partly closed, combined tickets for the Paço and the castle, or for both plus the Museu de Alberto Sampaio, are on sale, with no end date given for that period. From Guimarães railway station the walk runs through the historic centre. Inside, children must stay with an adult at all times, eating and drinking are not allowed during the visit, and flash photography is not permitted inside the keep (Torre de Menagem). The trade-off for families with small children: strollers are not allowed on the wall walk, and there is a risk of falls, so wear comfortable, closed shoes rather than sandals or flip-flops.
