OUR FAMILY ASSESSMENT

Family Intelligence

Augrabies Falls National Park was founded in 1966 near the town of Augrabies, and the falls are seen from walkways and decks built out towards the water. The trade-off is the spray itself: mist from the falls makes the walkways and decks slippery, so children need shoes with non-slip soles and a firm hand near the edges, and everyone should expect to get wet. Families staying overnight in the rest camp also get the use of the camp’s swimming pools, which are for residents only. The rest camp has a restaurant where chalet guests have breakfast; the park does not say whether day visitors can eat there, so bring food for a day trip.

Why kids will love it

The falls can be seen up close from walkways and decks, and infants under 2 get in free.
