Alton Towers is a theme park within day-trip reach of Stoke-on-Trent, open to the public since 1963. For younger children the draw is CBeebies Land, and Bluey the Ride: Here Come the Grannies! gives Bluey fans a ride of their own.
Day passes start from £32 per person, but only when bought in advance, and pre-booking is also what guarantees you get in on the day.
You’re welcome to bring your own food and non-alcoholic drinks into the theme park, and there are designated picnic areas throughout the grounds, though barbecues and alcohol are not permitted.
The one thing to plan around is crowds: the park is at its busiest at weekends and during school holidays.
