The Air Zoo, founded in 1977, is an aviation museum and science centre in two buildings, the Flight Innovation Center and the Flight Discovery Center, a short walk or drive apart. General admission covers both. The rides and flight simulators are included too, and children can go on them as many times as they like, but rides are sometimes closed for maintenance and the museum does not guarantee they will all be running on the day you visit.
Because the Air Zoo is mostly indoors, it holds up as a rainy-day plan. The youngest have the Toddler Tarmac, a play space pitched at their age. There is a private nursing and pumping room on the second-floor mezzanine of the Flight Innovation Center lobby, and parking is free at both buildings.
For lunch, the Kitty Hawk Cafe sells meals and snacks. You can also bring your own food to the picnic tables just south of the main lobby or to the pavilion on the path between the buildings, though outside food is not allowed inside the Flight Innovation Center; drinks are. Free sensory bags with fidget tools and noise-cancelling headphones are available at the Ticket Counter and the Fly Buy Store.
