Lift and stairs
The lift goes up to the 6th floor; the 8th-floor viewing balcony is reached by stairs.

Galata Tower dates from 1349 and now works as a museum, so the climb is broken up by exhibits rather than being one long ascent. Low in the tower, a giant screen shows an animated simulation of Hezârfen Ahmed Çelebi’s flight from Galata Tower to Üsküdar. Higher up there is Bul İstanbul, a video game made for young visitors, and an electronic model of Istanbul with built-in tablets, set beside viewing binoculars. The panoramic balcony is on the top floor. The trade-off is the last stretch: the lift does not go all the way, and the final floors up to the balcony are climbed by stairs.
