OUR FAMILY ASSESSMENT

Family Intelligence

Plopsaland Deutschland is an amusement park built partly around children’s characters: there are areas called Majaland and Wickieland, children can meet Maya the Bee, Vicky the Viking, Heidi and others up close, and a new family stage show puts Maya in a story about dressing up and friendship. Tickets are priced by height rather than age, so it helps to know roughly where each child measures before you arrive. Buying online for a fixed date can come in under the gate price, though the online price changes from day to day; a flexible ticket instead lets you choose the day within a year. Priority access at the most popular rides needs a paid Express Pass, and the park’s app shows current wait times along with start times for shows and meet-and-greets. Parking tickets can also be bought online ahead of time, which saves queuing at the till. In autumn the calendar splits in two: the festival is pitched at families, while the Fright Nights are built on horror, action and live entertainment.

Why kids will love it

For families with small children, the height-based pricing works in your favour: the youngest get in free and the next band pays a fraction of the adult rate. The trade-off comes once a child passes that first band – from there the ticket costs almost as much as an adult’s, which is when the family ticket is worth comparing.
