The High Line is an elevated linear park: a long, narrow walk above the street rather than a lawn to settle on for the afternoon. There are no tickets and no fee, so you can walk a stretch, come down again, and fit it around the rest of the day. The entire route is wheelchair accessible.
Free docent-led public tours run on set days all year, on a schedule that changes with the season.
Food is the part that depends on when you come. Food and drink vendors trade only for part of the year; outside that season, Shake Shack is the one that stays open.
