Eltz Castle is a protected cultural heritage monument in Rhineland-Palatinate and a day trip from Koblenz. Inside, you see it on a guided tour; the ticket also covers the inner courtyard and the treasury. International visitors can ask for a free flyer with the tour text in English, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, Russian, Chinese or Japanese.
The thing to know before you go is the stairs. The castle is not barrier-free: numerous steps and staircases make the courtyard, the tour and the treasury difficult or impossible for anyone with limited mobility, and the castle taverns are also reachable only by stairs.
Photos and filming are fine outside, in the courtyard and in the treasury, but not inside the castle itself. Animals are not allowed in the castle interiors.
